Academic Supervision of Principal in SMP Negeri 1 Magetan

ABSTRACT
The educating
institution success is supported by correct supervision’s management from
Principal. The aims of this research are to know: 1) Academic supervision’s
management of Principal in SMPN 1 Magetan, to comprehend planning, execution,
evaluation and advance evaluation result. 2) Supporting and inhibiting factors
of academic’s supervision of Principal in SMPN 1 Magetan. 3) Solution of advance
inhibiting factors of academic’s supervision of Principal in SMPN 1 Magetan.
The
method in this research is descriptive qualitative. Research’s location is in
SMPN 1 Magetan in 2016. Subject research is The Principal of SMPN 1 Magetan. The
object of research is management of academic’s supervision of Principal in SMPN
1 Magetan. The source of information in this research are school’s supervisor,
vice principal, teachers, and school’s administration staff in SMPN 1 Magetan. Data
collection methods are: observation, interview and documentation. The checking
validity of the obtained data uses triangulation method and sources. Techniques
of data analysis use two models, they are flow medel namely: data
reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification and interactive
model.
The result of
this research shows that 1). The management of academic’s supervision of
Principal in SMPN 1 Magetan is done well, focused, and based on the rule or standard
process that happen in the school. The system of supervision is done by optimizing
vice principal and teachers as the academic’s supervision team. Management of
academic’s supervision through steps as follows: a.) planning: the planning of
supervision program is made by Principal together with supervision’s team in
the early semester b.) Execution: the supervision of principal in SMPN 1
Magetan uses class visitation techniques. The model of Principal’s supervision
is conventional model c.) Evaluation: the scoring of academic supervision based
on the instrument that has determined d.) The advance evaluation result: it’s
done as an evidence of report that principal has done the academic supervision.
This action is a directly guidance through meeting, giving motivation, and
teacher’s training. 2). Supporting academic’s supervision management are a)
motivation of all people in SMPN 1 Magetan b) supervision’s schedule has been
programmed c) the principal is enthusiastic in doing academic’s supervision
activity d) the performance of academic’s supervision team e) great welcoming from
teachers in SMPN 1 Magetan. The inhibiting factors of academic’s supervision of
Principal are a) the Principal who has two jobs in two different schools, b) the
principal supervises teacher who has different education background with
principal’s education background. 3). Solution of inhibiting factors are a) the
authority’s delegation of the Principal to the school’s academic supervision
team, b) the Principal held cooperation with teachers of each subjects that
have been pointed to be an accessory and subject’s supervisor to solve the problem.
